2004年，草雲付了8,000美金的仲介費，從越南來到臺灣工作。在三年合約到期前，她選擇「逃跑」，成了「逃跑外勞」。草雲逃跑後，只能非法工作，隨時有被警察「捉拿」的危險，過著擔心害怕的日子。
維興也是一位「逃跑」的越南移工，他在住處的牆上作畫，抒發對故鄉及家人的思念。
為什麼要逃跑？是為賺取更多錢？是為追求更好的工作機會？本片透過草雲與維興的現身說法，呈現「逃逸外勞」的生命處境，他們拋開合法的工作身分，鋌而走險地在外工作，在臺灣窮盡自己的青春，試圖為家人掙得一個更好的生活，也為自己改變未來的命運。

Tsao-yun paid an 8,000 USD recruitment fee, left Vietnam to work in Taiwan, and ran away before her 3-year contract was due. Since then, she could only work illegally, worrying about police arrest. Wei-shing is also a “runaway” Vietnamese migrant worker. He dealt with his homesickness by painting on the wall. 
Why running away? For more money or better opportunities? The film presents the life of runaway migrant workers through Tsao-yun’s and Wei-shing’s narratives, showing how they risk their life working illegally, hoping to better support their families and to change their own futures.
