This documentary tells the stories of four female Indonesian caregivers of different generations, who have worked in Taiwan for almost ten years. On working days, they look after the elderly or young patients in their employers’ homes and on their days off, they come to the main hall of Taipei Station with their friends. In there, they sit on the floor, chatting, celebrating birthdays and sharing Indonesian food with each other. The main hall of Taipei Station is like a big living room, where the Indonesian migrant workers gather together. The square outside the station was once a place where the Indonesian Muslims in Taiwan celebrated the Eid al-Fitr, and the gathering of thousands of Indonesian people was once a unique scene on Taipei’s cultural landscape. The four female migrant workers in the film include Tantri, who helps her fellow Indonesian migrant workers dealing with all sorts of things via mobile live streaming, Umi, who loves writing poems and taking photos, Pindy, who shows the traditional Indonesian culture through he paper clay sculptures, and Yusni, who speaks and writes Chinese fluently. In their living room in that station hall, they liberate themselves from their jobs as a caregiver, fully demonstrating themselves and their talent while many issues concerning the female migrant workers are unveiled and reflected on.

According to statistics, fewer than 10% of people living with schizophrenia in Taiwan are able to secure part-time or full-time jobs. This is the lowest employment rate among all disability groups, significantly lower than the 60% employment rate for those with physical disabilities. Compared to people with other types of disabilities, most people with schizophrenia face deep anxiety when job hunting, fearing that the door to employment will be shut as soon as they notify a potential employer of their diagnosis. This episode follows three individuals — Dark, Ching-lan, and Strawberry — all of whom were diagnosed during their school years. At times, their lives revolved around repeated relapses; at others, they were repeatedly rejected by employers. Yet, despite the setbacks, they continue striving to return to the workforce. Let’s see how they navigate the chaos of life and forge ahead on the road to employment!
